End Of The Year Surprise

In October, my singers need to know the program several weeks in advance. We're just gelling as a group, learning new music, and they want to be ready.

By April, they're learning music faster, have an intuitive sense of each other, and are (secretly) hungry for a challenge.

That's why I walked into rehearsal tonight and said, "Big Bad World will be memorized by 8:00 and performed on Wednesday."

They're ready - I was utterly confident, even if they weren't. And surprise! They were singing without music before 7:30.

It's a beautiful thing to work with a group of people who have become a choir.

What can you do to structure your year differently and take advantage of all the intangibles your choir members have been building all year?
